Winter In Yellowstone February 6th – 12th 2021

Day 1, Saturday, February 6th: We will arrive in Bozeman Montana. Those who arrive early enough can take the shuttle to West Yellowstone, Montana either from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport at 2pm. Check into our hotel. At 6 pm we’ll have a welcoming dinner together and get to bed early in preparation for our journey into the interior of Yellowstone on a Snowcoach on Sunday morning.

Days 2-6, Sunday February 7th – Thursday February 11th: We will rise early each morning and after breakfast we will board our private snowcoach and head into Yellowstone NP in search of wildlife. We’ll be looking for Bison, Fox, Elk, Bobcat, Wolves, Coyotes, Eagles, Otters, Trumpeter Swans and other species that are known to spend their winter in Yellowstone.

Deep winter snow pushes the Yellowstone wildlife down to the valleys and along the Madison River and Yellowstone River providing unique opportunities for spectacular wildlife imagery. Each day we will mainly focus on the active wildlife areas of the park that can change on a moment’s notice.

If the light presents the opportunity for scenic images we will stop and photograph those scenes. Our main goal is to seek out wildlife in their winter habitat and patiently capture their behavior as we tour the interior of Yellowstone NP.

Lunch will be provided during each of the 5 days on the snowcoach.

We will return to our lodge in the early evening daily from our long day of photographing the interior of Yellowstone NP.

Day 7, Friday February12th: After our morning breakfast we will check out of our hotel. We will then depart for Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport via the arranged shuttle (9am) preparing for our return flight home.

Optional Snowmobile tour.

If you can arrive on the 4th or 5th of February you are welcome to join me for 1 or 2 days of sightseeing while traveling through the 400+ miles of National Forest lands on a Snowmobile. The cost of the snowmobile rental per day is around 150-170 including fuel. This is a leisurely tour through the snow covered groomed backcountry designated trails. This isn’t a ride so much for photography but for fun and scenery.

Again, this is optional for those interested in joining me. I’ll be arriving on Thursday the 4th and plan on renting a snowmobile on the 5th and 6th.
